In the Dominican Republic we spent two weeks working with the Primera Inglesia Bautista (First Baptist Church) of Puerto Plata. Our main focus of ministry was assisting the church with their Christmas outreach programs. The main thing God taught me on that trip was that its not always what youre doing; but how youre doing it. Im am very task oriented. I love to organize, plan and get things done. On a missions trip though, sometimes the only thing we have to do is just to be there. I felt God reminding me of the verse 1 Corinthians 13:1-3. Basically it says that we can have many gifts and talents, but the most important thing is love. It doesnt matter what I am doing or not doing as long as I have a love for the people I am with. The clothes we gave away will wear out, the toys will break, and what we said will be forgotten, but the love we showed when we were just being; that will remain.
The greatest Christmas gift:
"Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord." Luke 2:11
